Red & White BlackBerry Torch 9800's coming to AT&T

Torch

Looks like Kevin’s dream of having a White BlackBerry Torch 9800 just got one step closer. It really hasn’t been in doubt that red and white would both be arriving, since the parts for them have been up on 3rd part retailer sites for a while now. But, more a question of when, exactly they would arrive. Engadget sources claim “mid to late November” for the release and to go with the red and white will also be an olive color. Sounds good, put me down for one sexy red one please. Anyone else? Oh ya, if that Samsung Galaxy Tab is something you’re interested in as well, you can check out the full coverage over at Androidcentral for details on that.

T-Mobile launches “Kids Are Free” promotion

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Sept. 8, 2010 — Continuing its efforts to give families the freedom to stay connected on their terms, T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced a new promotional offer called Kids Are Free to make family communication easy and more budget friendly. With Kids Are Free, new and existing T-Mobile customers who sign up for a qualifying family plan through Nov. 2, 2010, receive free add-a-line service on up to three lines of their plan until 2012.*

Families are busier than ever. Between soccer practice, school, time with friends and work, families are always on the go, and mobile phones provide a vital line of communication for them. According to a study published in April 2010 by the Pew Research Center, 75 percent of children ages 12 to 17 now have a cell phone.** That said, it can be a struggle for parents to balance the family budget in order to keep the whole family in touch while on the go.

“Not only is T-Mobile offering the most flexible and affordable family plans among national carriers today, we are also making it more affordable than ever for families to add their kids or other family members by eliminating the associated monthly service fee until 2012,” said Ashley White, marketing director of value offers at T-Mobile USA. “The up-front cost of purchasing new phones and dealing with monthly service fees for an entire family can add up quickly, so this promotion is designed to make it easier for families.”

The Kids are Free promotion is the latest effort from T-Mobile to ensure families are united with compelling and affordable mobile services. Additional family-friendly offers this fall include the following:

BlackBerry Torch 9800 available from Rogers September 24th for $199

Those of you in the Great White North won’t have to wait much longer to get your hands on the BlackBerry Torch 9800. We just got word that the device will be available starting September 24th for $199 on a 3-year contract. Rogers will be the first Canadian carrier to have the Torch, but we’ve seen pages from both Bell and Telus that suggest they won’t be far behind.

As part of the Rogers RedBoard series, Miranda MacDonald talked with BlackBerry Director of Marketing, Michael McDowell about the Torch and what features it has to offer including hardware, BlackBerry 6 and more. Check out the full video above and then head over to Rogers for more information.

BlackBerry Bold 9780 Spotted in White

While they may not be the clearest pictures we’ve ever seen on the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9780, it is still very distinguishable that this is a beautiful pearl white 9780!

The Bold 9780 aka R020 is going to be the refresh model for the Bold 9700. It will sport 512mb RAM, OS 6, and a 5MP camera. We think the 9780 looks quite sexy in white. What do you say?

Rogers Set To Carry BlackBerry Torch 9800 In White (Exclusively)?

So far, Canadians are left to either pick up an AT&T branded Torch and unlock it for use on whichever network they’re on, or to simply wait. With Telus, Virgin Mobile, and Bell set to launch it in a month or so, we’re still left without any specific launch information from Rogers, besides that they will carry it. A new rumor has surfaced today, stating Rogers will also launch a white version of the new device from RIM, though no confirmation has been provided as of yet. Maybe this is what the ‘Rogers exclusivity rumor’ was hinting at a month or two ago?

Rogers has basically had exclusivity on the white versions of most handsets from RIM, at least for a limited time, so it would make sense that they would launch this variation as well. According to tip-offs, the white version should launch shortly after that standard black version, but since we still don’t know when that will be, we’re stuck waiting a little bit longer.

What do you think about a Torch 9800 in white? Personally, I would be interested to see a white variation of this device without the pearl-type finish.
