Rogers pricing for the BlackBerry Curve 9360 confirmed

Rogers BlackBerry Curve 9360

Not one to be left out when new devices are in the air, Rogers official pricing for the BlackBerry Curve 9360 has been confirmed. If the new Curve is of interest to you, then you will be pleased to see that you can pick one up for $349.99 off contract or as low as $49.99 on a 3 year plan with appropriate voice/data package. If you’re not keen on being locked into 3 years with an entry level BlackBerry, you can do a 1 or 2 year contract instead for $149 and $99 respectively.

When will this device be available on Rogers? It’s “coming soon”, of course, though word around Twitter is it will be out in time for back to school.

BlackBerry Curve 9360 is coming to Koodo Mobile

If you’ve noticed recently that Koodo was selling the BlackBerry Curve 3G for a no-contract price of $150, you probably wondered if this was foresight to new things to come. Well, according to the above screenshot, Koodo will soon be carrying the BlackBerry Curve 9360 with a $300 price tag. No much is known on this unreleased/unannounced device, but I’m sure more details will become available closer to when this device launches.

Blackberry Bold 9900 up for pre-order at Vodafone UK, first official price tag

RIM was tight-lipped about pricing and availability when we went hands-on at the official launch of their OS 7-equipped Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9860 handsets. We still can’t be sure exactly when the Torches will hit British shelves, but the Bold 9900 is already standing proudly up for pre-order at Vodafone UK, along with a commitment to arrive at your doorstep in roughly a week’s time if you take the plunge. However, just like the leaked T-Mobile USA pricing, it won’t come cheap in the UK either: you’ll need to swallow a £41 ($67) monthly price plan on a two-year contract before they’ll give you the handset for free. Alternatively, you can opt for a monthly contract at half that price and pay a daunting £399 ($650) upfront for the phone. Nevertheless, if you’re a BB fan and you’re convinced of this form factor, then we predict you’ll get on well with 9900’s particularly chunky keyboard, high-res screen and top-notch build quality — or you could just wait for our full review.

Update: It’s just been spotted going cheaper at Carphone Warehouse — free from £31 per month on Vodafone or £500 off-contract, also with an August 12th delivery date. Let the market forces ensue.

Labor talks fail, 45,000 Verizon workers go on strike from Maine to Washington DC

45,000 Verizon Communications, Inc workers have gone on strike, after labor talks with the #1 wireless carrier in the U.S., failed Saturday. Originally set to expire at midnight on Saturday, Aug. 6th, workers rejected the contract changes that Verizon was seeking. Verizon executive vice president of human resources, Mark C. Reed, called the outcome of talks “regrettable”, after workers rejected over 100 concesions regarding health care, pensions, and work rules. “We will continue to do our part to reach a new contract that reflects today’s economic realities in our wireline business and addresses the needs of all parties,” he said in a statement.

“Even at the 11th hour, as contracts were set to expire, Verizon continued to seek to strip away 50 years of collective bargaining gains for middle-class workers and their families,” said the Communications Workers of America.

Even though almost a quarter of Verizon’s work force went on strike, the wireless giant has a fallback plan. “Tens of thousands of Verizon managers and other personnel have been trained to step in and perform emergency work assignments,” Verizon spokesman Rich Young said.

We will continue to monitor the situation, and bring you new developments as they happen.

Rogers announces pricing for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9860

Rogers BlackBerry

We knew Rogers was getting ready to announce the BlackBerry Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9860 today and now they’ve done so. Sadly, Rogers is remaining quiet about release dates but they’ve now got pricing details out of the way and are as follows:

  • BlackBerry Bold 9900 – $249.99
  • Blackberry Torch 9810 – $199.99
  • BlackBerry Torch 9860 – $199.99

Those prices are of course based under the typical 3-year contract terms so we’ll have to wait and see what no contract pricing ends up being but either way — nice to see Rogers lay down some official pricing for everyone.
