BlackBerry Torch 9860 & Curve 9360 Spotted in T-Mobile Inventory System

T-Mobile inventory system 9360 and 9860

We already had it on good authority that T-Mobile would be getting the BlackBerry Curve 9360 but things have been back and forth about the all touch Torch 9860. We know that RIM has an AWS version of the 9860 that would work on T-Mobile but we have been getting conflicting signals on if they decided to carry it in the end.

Thanks to TmoNews we have a leaked T-Mobile inventory screenshot showing both the Torch 9860 and Curve 9360 in their system.

For those of you who were looking for a full touch device on a GSM carrier stateside I hope this pans out! It would be T-Mobiles first all touch BlackBerry.

Thanks GP for sending this one in!

TELUS releasing BlackBerry Torch 9860 August 30th and Curve 9360 August 26th

TELUS 9860 and 9630

TELUS has been toying with the emotions of those people wanting to pick up the BlackBerry Torch 9860, though not intentionally of course. We’ve seen August 15th, 26th, and the 29th as release dates for the touchscreen BlackBerry, and now the latest word is that it will be available for purchase August 30th.

On the brighter side, RIM’s latest announcement, the BlackBerry Curve 9360, was rumored to be launching late September then pushed up to the end of August. It looks now that this estimate has been pinned down to August 26th on TELUS which is right around the corner. No word on pricing yet for these devices, but I’m sure that will be available before you know it.

Carrier price list and availability roundup for BlackBerry OS7 devices due to North America

New OS 7 BlackBerry Smartphones

BlackBerry OS 7 devices are here (or at least on their way)! The BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930, BlackBerry Torch 9810, and the BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860 devices are soon to be hitting the shelves in a store near you. Up north, our Canadian colleagues have already managed to snag some of these next generation BlackBerry smartphones for themselves.

The rest of us, though, we wait anxiously for our chance to buy one of these OS7 devices. How long that wait is depends entirely on your wireless carrier and desired device. Scouring the blogs for this information can be a bit daunting; so we did the work for you.

After the break, you’ll find our list of six major carriers in the US and Canada along with the devices they are rumored to carry. Unless otherwise noted, the information isn’t official from the carriers and thus subject to change. Prices listed are promotional pricing only; purchasing a phone off-contract will, of course, cost more.

Bell Document Shows Wi-Fi Hotspot Coming “Post Launch” & Torch 9860 Launch Date

torch-9860-wifi

The latest news from up north is that Bell is getting the BlackBerry Torch 9860 on August 22nd. Also interesting is the spec sheet for the Q3 BlackBerry lineup from Bell that sheds some light on the BlackBerry 7 Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot feature. The document scored by MobileSyrup clearly states that Wi-Fi hotspot functionality will be available via a software update post launch. Hopefully RIM means that update is coming less than a month after launch because I know I could really use it for my PlayBook and laptop!

Blackberry Bold 9900 up for pre-order at Vodafone UK, first official price tag

RIM was tight-lipped about pricing and availability when we went hands-on at the official launch of their OS 7-equipped Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9860 handsets. We still can’t be sure exactly when the Torches will hit British shelves, but the Bold 9900 is already standing proudly up for pre-order at Vodafone UK, along with a commitment to arrive at your doorstep in roughly a week’s time if you take the plunge. However, just like the leaked T-Mobile USA pricing, it won’t come cheap in the UK either: you’ll need to swallow a £41 ($67) monthly price plan on a two-year contract before they’ll give you the handset for free. Alternatively, you can opt for a monthly contract at half that price and pay a daunting £399 ($650) upfront for the phone. Nevertheless, if you’re a BB fan and you’re convinced of this form factor, then we predict you’ll get on well with 9900’s particularly chunky keyboard, high-res screen and top-notch build quality — or you could just wait for our full review.

Update: It’s just been spotted going cheaper at Carphone Warehouse — free from £31 per month on Vodafone or £500 off-contract, also with an August 12th delivery date. Let the market forces ensue.

[Thanks, Roberto and Anthony]

Mobile Miscellany: week of August 1, 2011

Here’s some of the other stuff that happened in the wide world of wireless for the week of August 1, 2011:

  • Vodafone unveiled the world’s first prepaid-only Facebook phone, dubbed the Vodafone 555 Blue. It has a portrait QWERTY, 2 MP camera, 2.4-inch display, and a few other minor features added in. No word was given on pricing or availability, only that it’ll be sold through its own shops and website. [via Pocket-Lint]
  • The Motorola Milestone Plus is Cellular South’s variant of the Droid Pro, a portrait QWERTY that runs Android 2.2 and has a 1GHz CPU and 3.1-inch display. It can be yours for $200 with a two-year commitment and after a $50 mail-in rebate. [via AndroidCentral]
  • While we’re chatting about Cell South, the regional carrier will soon release the Samsung Admire, the same entry-level Android device we’ve peeked at en route to MetroPCS. No pricing or availability have been announced. [via AndroidCentral]
  • A phone with the model number LG-P699 received its Bluetooth certification this week. It’s widely speculated that this phone’s the Optimus Net. [via PhoneArena and PocketNow]
  • Screenshots and an APK of Sony Ericsson’s latest home launcher for its Xperia series were leaked this week. Most of the changes are subtle UI differences. [via Xperiablog]
  • Rogers announced the upcoming availability and pricing of the BlackBerry Bold 9900, Torch 9810, and Torch 9860. All three will be added to the lineup this summer, and all will require a three-year commitment. The 9900 will be sold for $250, and both Torches will be priced at $200. [via MobileSyrup]

Rogers announces pricing for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9860

Rogers BlackBerry

We knew Rogers was getting ready to announce the BlackBerry Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9860 today and now they’ve done so. Sadly, Rogers is remaining quiet about release dates but they’ve now got pricing details out of the way and are as follows:

  • BlackBerry Bold 9900 – $249.99
  • Blackberry Torch 9810 – $199.99
  • BlackBerry Torch 9860 – $199.99

Those prices are of course based under the typical 3-year contract terms so we’ll have to wait and see what no contract pricing ends up being but either way — nice to see Rogers lay down some official pricing for everyone.
