My10 BlackBerry Social Plan from Rogers – minutes, messaging, social networking and more for $42.75/month

My10 BlackBerry Social plan

Hey Canada, Rogers has a new offer for those of you looking to pick up an older BlackBerry on a budget. For a limited time, new and existing customers can pick up a BlackBerry Bold 9780, Curve 9300 or the Curve 8520 on a 3-year contract and sign up for the My10 BlackBerry Social plan. For $42.75/month you get 150 weekday minutes, unlimited nights/weekends starting at 6pm, unlimited Canada-wide calls to your favorite 10 contacts, unlimited instant messaging (including Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, and Yahoo Messenger  – RIM developed apps only) and BBM, and unlimited social networking (including FaceBook, Twitter, and MySpace).

If you have a craving for the new BlackBerry 7 devices, like the Bold 9900, you won’t be able to take advantage of this plan, but if you have social butterfly teens and tweens begging for a new phone for back to school, you’ll definitely want to look into this one.

Rogers pricing for the BlackBerry Curve 9360 confirmed

Rogers BlackBerry Curve 9360

Not one to be left out when new devices are in the air, Rogers official pricing for the BlackBerry Curve 9360 has been confirmed. If the new Curve is of interest to you, then you will be pleased to see that you can pick one up for $349.99 off contract or as low as $49.99 on a 3 year plan with appropriate voice/data package. If you’re not keen on being locked into 3 years with an entry level BlackBerry, you can do a 1 or 2 year contract instead for $149 and $99 respectively.

When will this device be available on Rogers? It’s “coming soon”, of course, though word around Twitter is it will be out in time for back to school.

The tree is shaking now that RIM has announced the new Curve lineup and carriers are falling out confirming the BlackBerry Curve 9360. Other than Sprint they are not talking launch dates but they are confirming the device. You have to love how US carriers are always the quietest. Here are the latest confirmed carriers:

White 9810 Now Available from Rogers and Telus

After much anticipation, Rogers and Telus have officially released the Torch 9810 in white.  It is available in stores and online.  Most users who have wanted white devices in the past have had to wait months sometimes, and its nice to see it released in a timely fashion this time.

BlackBerry OS 7 Bakes "Add To Existing Contact" Feature into OS

BlackBerry 7 Add To Existing Contact2 BlackBerry 7 Add To Existing Contact1

One of the things I have always wanted RIM to add to the BlackBerry OS has finally been added! Until now you needed to install a third party app if you wanted to easily add an email address or phone number to an existing contact. Well fret no longer. One of our readers pointed out to us that their Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9900 has the ability to add information to an existing contact right in the OS. We confirmed this on a couple of other Rogers 9900s including one of our writers but do not have confirmation from other carrier devices yet so let us know.

Either way I am loving how RIM is taking some time to refine the core BlackBerry OS experience in OS 7. To add information to an existing contact you can hover over the contacts email address in the messages application or hover over the phone number in the phone app and hit the menu button and select “Add to Contacts.” You will then get a popup asking you if you want to create a new contact or add it to an existing contact. I did not have the Rogers 9900 in front of me to field test it myself but so far it seems to be working!

Rogers lowers pricing on the BlackBerry Bold 9900 to $199

Rogers lowers pricing on the BlackBerry Bold 9900 to $199

If you’re a Rogers customer who was a little miffed at their pricing for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 then the latest Rogers info may make you feel better. Just a mere two-days after their initial release of the device they have gone ahead and dropped the 3-year contract pricing by $50.

The original price was set for $249 but now you can stroll on into a Rogers location and pick one up for $199. No word on whether or not Rogers will credit early adopters their $50 but no harm in trying by giving customer care a call.

Guess Rogers was listening when people said that the device was priced too high. Still though, Rogers remains the highest priced out of all Canadian carriers selling the BlackBerry Bold 9900.

Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9900 already on sale at some locations

Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9900

* Update from Kevin: I’m IN LOVE WITH THIS PHONE!!!!!!!! THANKS ROGERS!!!! *

Well it looks like the chaos has officially begun. Some forums members are reporting that they have tracked down the BlackBerry Bold 9900 at various Rogers locations. Not all stores have the device available, as the ones we contacted ranged from “We have them but can’t sell until Thursday” to “Sorry but we don’t have them in stock yet”. It seems the wires may be a bit crossed as to just when the device is supposed to go on sale. Kevin actually tracked down a store with some stock and subsequently bought out all of the remaining devices.

So what’s your story? Have you been able to locate a Bold 9900 to call your own? Drop a comment letting us know if you tried your luck, then hit the forums for more.

Rogers Bold 9900 Launches Today – Torch 9810 for August 12th

Brian pointed out to us that Rogers has updated their BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Torch 9810 announcement post with launch dates. We now know that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is launching on Rogers today, August 10th, and some lucky users have even managed to pick one up earlier last night. The Torch 9810 is coming on August 12th which is only a few days away.

Anybody else excited!!! I guess I had it right when I said Rogers would get it first…

BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Torch 9810 appear in Rogers upgrade system

While we’d heard word on Bell’s — and most of the US carriers — pending launch of the Bold 9900 and Torch 9810 BlackBerry 7 devices, the Rogers rumor mill stayed shuttered. That’s all changed with the lovely screengrab you can peep above apparently from the Rogers point-of-sale system upgrades department. While sadly this little gem doesn’t mention dates or pricing for this highly anticipated duo, Rogers has typically been first to market with new BlackBerry goods in Canada — and we’re hopeful that holds true in this case. But if we had to guess at a ballpark figure, Vodafone UK priced the Bold 9900 at roughly $650 and has us thinking we might see something in that realm over here. There’s no question we’ll be following this like the cell-loving sleuths you expect us to be, so please pop back soon for more.
