Early rummors hinted at T-Mobile and Verizon also releasing the BlackBerry Torch. A new leaked image shows the 9850 landing on Verizon for direct fulfillment on September 8th and in stores on the 15th.
RIM will finally launch the same devices across several U.S carriers unlike the past were only one or two carriers had exclusive to the devices.
Which device are you holding out for if you haven’t bought the 9930 yet?
We knew it was coming but now it is available. Scuebydue let us know that US Cellular now has the BlackBerry Torch 9850 available for purchase on their website. It went up on schedule on Saturday which is nice to see. You can pick it up now for $199.99 with a new 2 year contract after a $100 mail in rebate.
Verizon will carry RIM’s new BlackBerry Torch 9850, according to a picture of a leaked advertisement obtained by CrackBerry. It is still unclear when the phone will launch, but given that it is pictured next to the aging Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play, we suspect Verizon could make the announcement in the near future. RIM revealed the Torch 9850 in early August and we had a chance to check it out first-hand during an event in Toronto. The web browser is much improved, we appreciated the thin form factor and the phone’s 1.2GHz processor zipped around BlackBerry OS 7. The BlackBerry Torch 9850 is equipped with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, 8GB of storage and a 5-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video.
Sprint and Verizon have both announced or been rumored to be getting the BlackBerry Torch 9850, and now US Cellular is joining them. According to the US Cellular website you’ll be able to pick one of these up for $199 on a two year contract, after a $100 mail-in-rebate. With an official release date of August 26th, are you holding out for the new Torch 9850? Thanks for the tip John!
Got a new BlackBerry Torch 9850 or 9860, you’ve not been left out. Grab your USB cable and give OS 7.0.0.353 just like all the cool kids. While we’re not exactly sure what has changed in this update, it’s new and we like new things. As always, make sure you back up your data first and heed the warning below.

If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you’re comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. Do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *
The thin, light-weight design of this Torch, with its curvaceous lines; beautiful screen resolution; and excellent web browser make this into an excellent media-consumption device. BBM, email, and a redesigned virtual keyboard make it worthy of the name BlackBerry.
Looks as though the BlackBerry Bold 9930 isn’t the only new BlackBerry 7 device that will be going for cheap on Walmart. They’ve now added the BlackBerry Torch 9850 to the line up and, a new 2-year contract will get you the device for the low cost of $99. That is of course, $50 off the Sprint cost of $150 though a contract renewel only drops the price to $142. Either way, once again you’re saving money and that’s always a good thing.
