BlackBerry Pushcast Has More Value in Consumer Than Enterprise

 

As RIM considers the Consumer side, is there a “Killer App” waiting in the wings?In its continuing campaign to adjust to the new market reality, RIM is considering the consumer side while learning how to balance that with its continuing success in enterprise markets. RIM now understand that although enterprise isn’t dead, the consumer market has already surpassed it in volume and revenue opportunities. Ignoring this fact is a recipe for disaster and RIM isn’t about to make that mistake during its time of transition.

Chalk Pushcast Enterprise Software Renamed to BlackBerry Pushcast

Way back in early 2009 RIM acquired Chalk Pushcast Software and we were hoping for big things from the acquisition. Sadly nothing showed up in the consumer space but RIM tried pushing it in the enterprise space for mobile learning and communications. It seems like they do have users for the software because they did release a PlayBook version but now they have officially dropped the Chalk name to simply call it BlackBerry Pushcast. They brand the solution as giving enterprises the ability to:

BlackBerry® Pushcast™ Software is the next iteration and rebranded version of Chalk Pushcast Software. BlackBerry Pushcast Software facilitates media-rich training and communications and includes several components and applications that authors can use to create, manage, and send mobile content to computers or BlackBerry smartphones.

BlackBerry Pushcast Player users can view and save content on their BlackBerry smartphones by downloading the content when they are in a wireless coverage area and open the content when they are offline.
