RIM to announce only one phone at BlackBerry World?

We’ve heard from two independent sources that RIM is planning on announcing only one handset at BlackBerry World next week, the BlackBerry Bold Touch (or whatever name it ends up launching with). Yeah, that’s right… the company has six major products in the pipeline, all currently set to be released between June and September, and it is only going to announce one of them at the biggest Blackberry event of the year. We’re told this was a last minute change, and if it ends up panning out, well, it’s just plain stupid.

BlackBerry Bold Touch promo video leaks out

[ youtube video link for mobile viewing ]

Of all things remaining that could have possibly leaked for this device — this pretty much takes the cake in our opinion. In any event, the bove video is what is reported to be the promo video for the yet-to-be announced BlackBerry Bold Touch. Enjoy it while you can folks, we’re guessing this one won’t last very long on YouTube. Of course, by all means — drop some comments on what you think about the direction RIM took with it.

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 Montana Hands-on Video

On a BlackBerry? Click here for mobile YouTube video

We’ve been sent this short video of the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 Montana. Earlier we saw those 3D rendered tutorial videos that gave a good insight into the Bold Touch, but now we get the first live footage. The 9930 is the CDMA version of the Bold Touch, which we’ll likely see hit Verizon and possibly Sprint after the Dakota 9900 (GSM) releases. The video is just a quick glimpse at the responsiveness of the touchscreen on the 9930.

If you look closely, you can see that BlackBerry ID is embedded within OS 6.1. If you aren’t aware of what BBID is, we suggest you checkout our explanation piece. Check out the video and draw your thoughts on the touchscreen. Make sure to keep it locked to NHCBBA for more videos!

Some more BlackBerry Torch 2 images emerge for your viewing pleasure

BlackBerry Torch 2

On top of the bevy of spec sheets leaked today, the BlackBerry Torch 2 has been getting lots of camera time as well. We’d really like to say we’re excited for this device as a whole but really, the other devices such as the BlackBerry Bold Touch and BlackBerry Touch excite us a tad bit more — again, they’re new designs and new hardware so they certainly have the lead advantage. No matter, personal preferences aside, check out these newer images of the BlackBerry Torch 2. A couple more can be found after the break.

BlackBerry Bold Touch Dakota full spec sheet leaked

BlackBerry Bold Touch Dakota full spec sheet leaked

We’ve had glimpses of the specs for the BlackBerry Bold Touch before but, the finer details of it all were not found within any of that information. Now, the full line up of specs has been leaked online for everyone to get a good look at — although, we do have to remind everyone that this information is of course subject to change. That said, have a look at the specs as they are listed now, they are pretty impressive and totally what we have been asking for from RIM for a while. Snapdragon processor? Yeah, RIM finally got moved into the Qualcomm msm8655. Jump on past the break for more.

BlackBerry Touch monza full spec sheet leaked

BlackBerry Touch monza full spec sheet leaked

Getting the same treatment as the BlackBerry Bold Touch, the BlackBerry Touch monza / monaco has also now just had its full spec sheet leaked for all to see. Although at the top it does say Torch, that is presumably a typo in the information and this device now shows the model number 9860, where as the Torch 2 will carry the 9810 numbering. Naming of the processor appears to be left out on this spec sheet but given that it is also listed as 1.2Ghz it’s pretty safe to assume it has the exact same as the BlackBerry Bold Touch. More details are after the break for you all.

BlackBerry Torch 2 hands-on photos

BlackBerry Torch 2

Adding to the hands-on photos of the upcoming BlackBerry Bold Touch and the BlackBerry Touch (monaco) we’ve seen, we now have some new photos of the BlackBerry Torch 2 to add to the mix. The design is nearly identical to that of the BlackBerry Torch and again, you could say that this is really what the original Torch should have been. It has nearly twice the CPU power of it’s older sibling and is running OS 6.1. For more on all the devices we should be seeing this year, check out our 011 BlackBerry Smartphone Roadmap.

BlackBerry Torch 2 Key Specs:

  • Processor: 1.2 GHz processor
  • Radio: Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE ; Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps
  • Display: 3.2″ VGA – 480 x 640 capacitive touchscreen display

  • Connectivity: WiFi + Bluetooth + NFC

  • Battery: 1300MAh battery

We can hopefully put this on the growing list of devices that should be announced at BlackBerry World in May, so only a few more weeks and we’ll know for sure. One more image after the break.

Leaked BlackBerry Bold Touch videos showcase pinch-to-zoom and more

A recently leaked iteration of Research In Motion’s BlackBerry 6.1 mobile operating system is beginning to bear fruit. Nestled deep inside the application’s package, blog N4BB found four video tutorials for the BlackBerry Bold Touch — also known by its codename, the Dakota. Topics covered in the four videos include how to make and receive calls, inserting your SIM card, navigating the homescreen, and a video entitled “basics.” We gave the device a proper BGR unveiling back in January, but if you’re interested in seeing BlackBerry 6.1 and the Bold Touch in simulated-action, hit the jump. The videos are waiting for you.

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 hands-on!

What, you thought we were stopping with our exclusive hands-on with the BlackBerry Touch (Monaco / Monza)? Not at all, we’re back at it with the big boy in RIM’s 2011 lineup: the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900. We first scooped this smartphone back in January and we have to say, it most certainly looks better in person compared to the product renders — and that’s pretty spectacular seeing how appetizing those renders looked. The unit itself is extremely solid and the touchscreen is very responsive… and who could forget that great and spacious BlackBerry keyboard? The BlackBerry Bold Touch also uses a new battery from RIM, so hopefully the addition of a touchscreen to this famous BlackBerry form factor won’t have too much of a negative impact on battery life. We’re told the device will be announced at BlackBerry World and a global release is slated for the June-July time frame. Make sure to check out all the photos in our hands-on gallery!
