Change Log for Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9650 OS 6.0.0.524

Verizon Bold changelog

We usually do not mention every new official OS update otherwise we would be posting them all day. With that said Tom sent over a change log for the newly released OS 6.0.0.524 for the BlackBerry Bold 9650. That is such a unique occurrence that I just had to mention it. The change log is actually quite interesting since it mentions this upgrade brings support for BlackBerry Balance which I thought was in all OS 6.0 builds. There are also some nice a vague improvements like “New messages will accurately display in the Inbox.”

Check out the change log and let us know what you think. You can pick up this OS 6.0.0.524 for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 from Verizon. That same OS is also available for the BlackBerry Curve 9330 at the same link.

Verizon Wireless discontinuing BlackBerry Bold 9650 and Curve 3G 9330, adding PlayBook this winter?

Verizon Wireless PlayBook coming soon

It looks like Verizon has some BlackBerry related plans in the works for later this year. Their new Consumer Winter 2011 online catalog was just posted on the website, and shows the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and Curve 9330 listed as “while supplies last”. Does this mean they are clearing inventory for upcoming devices?

Another interesting find is the wifi enabled BlackBerry PlayBook, listed as “coming soon”. Though the press release RIM released back in March listing retailers that were expected to carry the PlayBook did list Verizon, it seems Big Red wasn’t quite ready to commit to that at the time. Hopefully this means they’ve made up their mind, though we still don’t know if this will be a 3G/4G version or remain strictly wifi.

Leaked OS 6.0.0.524 for the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330

One more this morning goes out to the Curve 3G 9330 users. This leak comes in the form of OS 6.0.0.524. Not much is known on this one just yet, so if you are a 9330 owner be sure to let us know what you find out. Use caution when updating your device.

*OS Disclaimer – Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you’re comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release.

Not even an hour ago I let you know that Verizon would be rolling out BlackBerry 6 for the Curve 3G 9330 and Bold 9650, now it looks like they’ve put up the files needed to upgrade through Desktop Manager!

Please report any feedback/findings in the comments.

REMEMBER: It is recommended that you make a backup before attempting to upgrade your BlackBerry just in case something goes wrong during the upgrade process. *

Verizon Pushing OS 6.0.0.431 OTA Update to BlackBerry Curve 9330?

It seems that Verizon is pushing out an OTA update of OS 6.0.0.431 for the BlackBerry Curve 9330. Just the other day we saw them release this same OS build for the Bold 9650. It is good to see that Verizon has (finally) officially released OS 6. It isn’t listed on their downloads site just yet, but if you’ve got a Curve 9330, check for updates in the wireless update section in options.

Verizon updating BlackBerry Bold 9650 and BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 this month?

Sure seems that way when looking at a piece of documentation found over at Android Central. We’re not sure if it will be a rollout of BlackBerry 6 or not at this point but the BlackBerry Bold 9650 will be moved into a MR3 release while the BlackBerry Curve 3G will be hitting MR1. Also noted is a MR4 for the BlackBerry Curve 8330 but that is left at TBD. Of course, we know that won’t be getting BlackBerry 6 but the others really should be at this point. Guess we’ll just have to wait it out and see but if all goes as we hope it does, BlackBerry 6 will hit land on Verizon soon. Keep in mind; its been delayed before so it could happen again.
